I refer to the shortage of suitable
housing for homeless people in regional Western Australia.
(1) What new
facilities have been contracted to provide accommodation for those experiencing
homelessness in regional Western Australia in the last 12 months?
I thank the member for some notice
of the question and provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for
Community Services.
(1)–(2) The
Department of Communities has contracted with Housing First Support Services in
the last 12 months, including the following Housing First homelessness support
services contracted in regional Western Australia:
Roman Catholic Bishop of Geraldton Centacare Family Services, contracted to
provide Housing First Support Services in Geraldton for the period 1 April
2021 to 31 March 2026; and Anglicare WA Inc, contracted to provide Housing
First Support Services in Bunbury for the period 1 February 2021 to 31 January
2026.
