SCHOOLS —
PLASTER GLASS CEILINGS
1210. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the minister's
press statement dated 10 May 2018 titled, ''Maintenance program to
upgrade older WA public schools'', which states —
Original plaster glass ceilings at
schools built before 1970 will be updated on a needs basis at a cost of $3.5 million.
(1) Has this funding been fully allocated; and, if not,
can the minister advise the amount allocated in 2018–19 and
across the forward estimates?
(2) Will the minister provide a list
of schools that have been identified for such a refurbishment?
(3) Of those
referred to in (2), will the minister advise which schools have already had
their ceiling or ceilings refurbished and the time frame for the remaining
schools having the necessary improvements undertaken?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3) Of
the 99 sites identified to have plaster glass ceilings remediated or replaced,
68 are in progress and seven have been completed. It is anticipated that the
2018–19 plaster glass ceiling program will be completed by the end of
January 2019. I table the attached list of sites identified in the 2018–19
plaster glass ceilings program, which shows those that have been completed.
