ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AUTHORITY — WHEATSTONE LNG PROJECT
752. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the minister's
decision to request the Environmental Protection Authority to review the
environmental conditions on the Wheatstone project.
(1) Has the minister received any
advice from the EPA in relation to this matter?
(2) If yes, will the minister table
the advice; and, if not, why not?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
Environmental Protection Authority is still undertaking its inquiry under
section 46 of the Environmental Protection
Act 1986 into the adequacy of existing implementation conditions in ministerial
statement 873, as amended by ministerial statement 922, with respect to
minimising greenhouse gas emissions. The EPA will provide me with a report when
its inquiry is completed later this year.
