FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT LINK — SOIL CONTAMINATION

1185. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to question without notice 1117 asked on 26 September on PFAS-contaminated soil excavated from the Forrestfield–Airport Link project.

(1) Is the Public Transport Authority currently responsible for or the legal owner of the 100 000 cubic metres of spoil from the FAL excavation currently being stored on Perth Airport estate?

(2) If no to (1), who is currently the responsible or legal owner?

(3) Is the Public Transport Authority currently responsible for or the legal owner of all the spoil that has been excavated from the FAL project?

(4) If no to (3), what other entities are?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Transport.

(1) The legal owner of the material is the state through the Public Transport Authority.

(2) Not applicable.

(3) The legal owner of the material, which has yet to be beneficially re-used or disposed of, is the state through the Public Transport Authority.

(4) Not applicable.
