LAND SERVICES WA
1230. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the minister representing the Minister for Lands:
I refer to the recent privatisation
of Landgate services.
(1) Will the
minister provide a list of all the personal information to which Land Services
WA will have access; and, if not, why not?
(2) Is there a privacy
agreement between the WA government and Land Services WA in relation to
personal private information; and, if not, why not?
(3) If yes to (2), will the minister table the privacy
agreement between the government and Land Services WA; and, if not, why
not?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to
me by the Minister for Lands.
(1) As the government has explained on many occasions,
the data in the land titles register, which Land Services WA will have access to, is already publicly
available. For the honourable member's benefit, Land Services WA
will have the exact same access to the same data as Advara, which was appointed
by the previous government in 2016.
(2) Land Services
WA has strict privacy obligations under both legislation, including the
commonwealth Privacy Act 1988, and the transaction documents with Landgate.
There is no separate privacy agreement in relation to personal private
information, as the land titles register is already publicly available.
(3) Not applicable.
