BUSSELTON MARGARET RIVER AIRPORT — JETSTAR TICKET SALES

1381. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the Minister for Tourism:

I refer to Jetstar ticket sales to and from Busselton Margaret River Airport to date.

(1) What proportion or value of ticket sales represents passengers departing from Melbourne for Busselton and returning to Melbourne?

(2) What proportion or value of ticket sales represents passengers departing from Busselton for Melbourne and returning to Busselton?

(3) What proportion or value of ticket sales represents passengers departing from Melbourne for Busselton without a return ticket?

(4) What proportion or value of ticket sales represents passengers departing from Busselton for Melbourne without a return ticket?

(5) How much of the airport marketing funding has been spent in Western Australia advertising Melbourne holidays?

(6) What is the economic benefit expected in Melbourne or Victoria from passengers travelling to Melbourne from Busselton?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question. The member is probably aware that, in a general sense, I have carriage of this issue in government. Nevertheless, the following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Tourism.

(1)–(4) Jetstar has advised Tourism Western Australia that it will not provide ticket sales information to the level of detail requested by the member. Tourism Western Australia has previously been advised by Jetstar that about 5 000 seats have been sold on the route to date.

(5) Nil.

(6) Tourism Western Australia has not assessed the potential economic benefit to Melbourne or Victoria.
