Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 125 asked in the Legislative Council on 22 March 2018 by Hon Aaron Stonehouse

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

COLLIE MOTORPLEX
      125. Hon AARON STONEHOUSE to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Sport and Recreation:
I thank the minister for his answer to my question of 20 March regarding the return of motorcycling to Barbagallo Raceway, and I look forward to receiving a briefing from him in the near future. In the meantime, I ask the following.
      (1) Is it true that the racetrack in the minister's own electorate of Collie–Preston underwent a safety inspection earlier this month?
      (2) If yes to (1), while in no way prejudging the outcome of that inspection, can the minister tell me whether it was undertaken under the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme guidelines or under the more common track guidelines issued by Motorcycling Australia?
      (3) If no to (1), when is the Collie track next scheduled to be inspected and which set of guidelines would the minister expect to see applied?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) The Shire of Collie has advised the most recent inspection by Motorcycling Australia was in late January 2018.
(2) Not applicable.
      (3) The Shire of Collie has advised that a final track inspection will occur after 15 April 2018 when the final works have been programmed. The relevant sanctioning body is responsible for determining which set of guidelines will be applied.
