MINISTER FOR TOURISM — SINGAPORE VISIT — ACCOMPANYING MEDIA
      687. Hon COLIN HOLT to the minister representing the Minister for Tourism:
I refer to the minister's recent trip to Singapore.
(1) Did the government pay for any media to accompany the minister?
(2) If yes to (l), who was the journalist and from which media company?
(3) What was the total cost to the taxpayer of taking a journalist on the trip?
(4) Who did the minister meet with regarding his racing portfolio?
(5) Will the minister table his itinerary?
(6) If no to (5), why not?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) It was a senior reporter at The Sunday Times.
(3) It was a total cost of $1 218.16.
      (4) The minister met the Australian High Commissioner, the Perth Racing chairman, the Perth Racing managing director, the Tabcorp Singapore representative and Singaporean tourism and travel media.
      (5) The itinerary details were: arrived in Singapore on Wednesday, 30 August 2017 at 6.00 pm; and attended and presented speech at Margaret River fiftieth anniversary dinner. On Thursday, 31 August 2017, he attended a meeting with the Western Australian Government Trade and Investment Office regional director, Singapore, the launch of Perth Masters Racing Carnival to the Singapore audience, and a press forum at the Australian High Commission with Singaporean and Australian media; had a live Australia-wide radio interview with Sky Racing Australia; attended a VIP hosted lunch with the Australian High Commissioner and senior editors, travel, trade and general media; met with Singapore Airlines and Silk Air representatives; and departed Singapore at 6.00 pm.
