Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 628 asked in the Legislative Council on 14 September 2017 by Hon Robin Chapple

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

VIMY RESOURCES — URANIUM RESOURCES
      628. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to Vimy Resources Mulga Rocks project in the goldfields.
(1) Did Vimy Resources lodge a mining lease application for this project?
      (2) If yes to (1), was a mineralisation report included in that application; and, if so, could the minister please table it?
      (3) If yes to (1), was a mining proposal included in this application; and, if so, could the minister please table it?
      (4) If no to (2) and (3), why not?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for at last asking this question. I have had a huge pile of documents sitting here for a long time to table. Madam President, could I say that we need to find a way of dealing with these documents electronically.
The Minister for Mines and Petroleum has provided the following information.
(1) Mining leases 39/1104 and 39/1105 applied in the name of Narnoo Mining Pty Ltd.
(2) Yes. The applications were accompanied by a mineralisation report. I table the attached report.
[See paper 606.]
(3) No.
      (4) Section 74(1) of the Mining Act 1978 sets out three options to accompany an application of a mining lease; either a mining proposal or a mineralisation report or a resource report.
