COMPENSATION SCHEME
1486. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the state government's commitment to
introduce a police-specific compensation scheme prior to the next state
election.

legislative reform prior to March 2021?
(2) When is it likely that a bill will be introduced to
Parliament to give effect to such a scheme?
(3) Who has
the state government consulted with in relation to the design and operation of
such a scheme?
(4) When does
the government expect the scheme to be operational?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON
replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for
Police.
(1) Yes.
(2) In 2020.
(3) To date,
the Western Australia Police Force and relevant government agencies have been
consulted. There have been discussions with the Western Australian Police Union
of Workers and the Medically Retired Western Australian Police Officers
Association, and there will be further consultation with them.
(4) As soon as
practicable after the legislation has received royal assent and been
proclaimed.
