COMMUNITY RESOURCE
CENTRES — FUNDING CLASSIFICATIONS
483. Hon JIM CHOWN to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the proposed funding cuts
by the McGowan government to the 103 Community Resource Centres listed on the
proposal to implement a two-tier system. Under the McGowan proposal, 78 CRCs
will be classified as tier 1, and 25 CRCs as tier 2. Tier 1 will receive $70 000
per annum at a 30 per cent reduction, and tier 2 receive a 50 per cent
reduction, or $50 000 per annum. This equates to total funding of $6.71
million. Where will the remaining $1.29 million be allocated from the $8
million budgeted for CRCs in the 2019–20 budget?
Hon
ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
This funding allocation is currently
a proposal presented for stakeholder feedback. At this time, the $1.29 million
balance of the $8 million budget in the proposal is allocated as follows: $500 000
for a traineeship program and $790 000 for support of the CRC program, which
represents a 53.1 per cent reduction on the previous program support budget.
