CASTLETOWN PRIMARY SCHOOL
670. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to an article in The West
Australian of 21 June about mould, corrosion and other building issues at
Castletown Primary School in Esperance, in which the Department of Education
said it has spent $550 000 at the school since 2013, including $370 000 on
repairs and maintenance.
(1) Can the minister
provide a breakdown of how this $550 000 was spent, and what repairs and
maintenance have been carried out at the school?
(2) Why are there
still so many underlying problems at the school despite this
half-a-million-dollar spend?
(3) What is the minister doing to
address these issues?
(4) Will the minister table all
building maintenance reports for Castletown Primary School since 2013?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
This question was raised by the
honourable member in budget estimates hearings on 20 June 2019. That is two
working days ago. I said then that I would take the question on notice so that
the issue could be investigated. I can advise that the investigation is
underway.
