Question Without Notice No. 1349 asked in the Legislative Council on 20 November 2019 by Hon Jacqui Boydell

Minister responding: Hon R.H. Cook
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on

CONNECTED BEGINNINGS PROGRAM

1349. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to my question without notice 1323 asked yesterday, which related to the Connected Beginnings program.

(1) What are the selected sites for the Health-funded component of the program?

(2) Did the WA Country Health Service submit a proposal to administer the health component of the program?

(3) Given there is ambiguity as to who will administer the program in conjunction with Wanslea Family Services, will WACHS intervene and administer this program, as this funding will be of enormous benefit to the community?

(4) If no to (3), why not?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) According to the Australian government's Department of Education website, the selected WA sites are Derby and Kalgoorlie.

(2) No; Connected Beginnings is a commonwealth program, for which funding recipients were directly approached to submit an application. WACHS was not invited to submit a proposal.

(3) No.

(4) WACHS is unable to comment as it is neither a lead agency nor a funding recipient.
