START COURT — REGIONAL EXPANSION
135. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the Start Court.
(1) Given the demonstrated success of the court and the clear need in regional areas will the government commit to expanding this court to regional areas?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), when?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Not at this point in time.
(2) The Start Court operating at the Central Law Courts Perth is currently funded until only 30 June 2019. Any expansion to regional areas would be considered as part of the future business case to continue the Start Court post‑June 2019.
(3) Not applicable.
