DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND
ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION — CLIMATE CHANGE UNIT
258. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the Minister for Environment:
I thank the minister for his
response to my recent question regarding attendance at the sixth climate
adaptation conference. I note his response states that the climate change unit
now has six full-time staff, overseen by a director and executive director.
(1) What are the position titles and
levels of the staff within the climate change unit?
(2) What was the rationale for the
creation of the new positions?
(3) Are there
any positions within other government agencies that have responsibility for
climate change issues?
(4) Are either of the two staff
attending the conference the director or executive director?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The position
titles and levels of the staff within the climate change unit are as follows:
senior manager, level 8; principal policy officers—two level 7s—and
one specified calling, level 4; senior policy officer, specified calling level
3; and policy officer, level 5.
(2) The new
positions were created to support the development of policy advice to the
government on its approach to, and priorities for, climate change.
(3) There are a range
of climate change–related programs and initiatives being undertaken by
other state government agencies and trading enterprises.
(4) No.
