Parliamentary Questions

Question On Notice No. 423 asked in the Legislative Council on 31 October 2017 by Hon Diane Evers

Question Directed to the: Minister for Regional Development representing the Minister for Forestry
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to the answers to Questions 1a and 2, provided by the Forest Products Commission in the 2017-18 Budgets Estimates Hearings - Questions Prior to Hearings, and ask could the Minister please advise:

(a) if any further capital appropriation or operating subsidies have been approved from 2017-18 to 2020-21; and
(b) if the answer to (a) is Yes, how much has been approved and for what purpose?
Answered on 5 December 2017

(a) Yes

(b) An equity injection of $1.3 million in 2017-18. This $1.3 million is the final instalment of the total $3.4 million determined by the Government. The Forest Products Commission receives Government appropriations only for specific (non-recurrent) projects. As part of the Strategic Assessment of the Perth and Peel Regions (SAPPR) an opportunity for improved whole of Government outcomes was recognised by making the McLarty Pine Plantation area available for sand mining. Government agreed to make a Government Equity Contribution ($3.4 million over two years) to offset the costs for replacement land in substitution for the area FPC had foregone in the McLarty Pine Plantation.
