Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 409 asked in the Legislative Council on 13 May 2020 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

EAST PERTH POWER STATION — REDEVELOPMENT

409. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Lands:

My question without notice is asked on behalf of Hon Tjorn Sibma, who is on urgent parliamentary business.

I thank the minister for his answer to my question yesterday regarding the East Perth power station redevelopment project and for his confirmation that four individual lots are incorporated within the overall project precinct.

(1) Has the government commissioned a valuation of each of the four lots, numbered 600, 601, 602 and 100?

(2) If yes to (1), what are the present market values for each of those lots?

(3) What impact will the government's commitment to $50 million in site works have on the valuation of those lots?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank Hon Tjorn Sibma for some notice of the question.

(1) Yes.

(2) It is a combined value of $1 for all four lots. The cost of removal and relocation of existing power infrastructure and subsequent decontamination of the land exceeds the value of the land, resulting in the $1 valuation.

(3) The government's commitment to site works will facilitate the activation and redevelopment of the site by the private partner.
