PILBARA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION — LIVE
EXPORT
1000. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to work undertaken by the
Pilbara Development Commission to assist government to increase live export
opportunities from the Pilbara.
(1) Has the PDC
engaged independent consultants to develop recommendations for government
investment to increase the live export capacity and to establish biosecurity
truck wash down infrastructure in the Port Hedland area?
(2) If yes to
(1), when was the report by the independent consultants delivered to the
Pilbara Development Commission?
(3) Will the minister table a copy
of the report?
(4) If no to (3), will the minister
outline recommendations made in the report?
(5) How much did it cost the Pilbara
Development Commission to engage the independent consultants?
(6) Has the Pilbara Development
Commission board endorsed recommendations contained in the report?
(7) When did the minister sign off
on the report?
Hon
ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the question.
(1) Yes. The PDC
engaged an independent consultant in November 2016 to develop recommendations
to attract private investment to increase the live export capacity and to
establish biosecurity truck wash down facilities in the Port Hedland area.
(2) It was on 13 September 2017.
(3) Yes.
(4) Not applicable.
(5) It cost $100 000.
(6) The board
approved the public release of the PDC feasibility studies of the ''Northern
Beef Infrastructure Review'', the ''Pilbara Cattle Holding Yard
Feasibility Assessment'' and the ''Pilbara Truck Wash Feasibility
Assessment''.
(7) I noted those reports in
mid-2018 and I am happy to table those reports.
