Parliament: 40 Session: 1

PILBARA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION — DR KEN KING

1482. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister for Regional Development:

I refer to the appointment of Dr Ken King as the Pilbara Development Commission's chief executive officer in 2013.

(1) Who made the appointment?

(2) Who made the recommendations for his appointment?

(3) Why did Mr King resign in 2015?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question.

(1) The appointment was approved by the cabinet of the Barnett government and then formally executed by the deputy to the Governor.

(2) The recommendation was made by the Public Sector Commissioner, following a recruitment and selection process.

(3) I am advised by the Pilbara Development Commission that Dr King resigned for personal reasons.

I table a copy of the media release by Hon Brendon Grylls on the occasion of the appointment.
