FIREARMS —
MINISTERIAL WORKING GROUP
1086. Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the firearms reform
ministerial working group that was formed to assess the implementation of the
143 recommendations in the Law Reform Commission's 105th
report, ''Review of the Firearms Act 1973''.
(1) What is the
progress of the ministerial working group's agreed first tranche of
recommendations that were presented to the Minister for Police in August last
year?
(2) When will the
ministerial working group be reconvened to work through the second tranche of
recommendations?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Police.
(1)–(2) The
reforms are currently being progressed and the ministerial working group will
be consulted on the draft bill.
