Question Without Notice No. 115 asked in the Legislative Council on 21 March 2018 by Hon Peter Collier
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
FREMANTLE PORT — CARRINGTON STREET–STIRLING HIGHWAY PROJECT
115. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to modelling used for the Carrington Street–Stirling Highway project.
(1) Did the modelling assume the continued operation of Fremantle port until 2031; and, if not, why not?
(2) What is the forecast capacity of Fremantle port in twenty-foot equivalent units for each of the years through to 2031?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Future use of the port is not measured in such a way. Throughput is expected to grow annually roughly in line with gross state product. Westport is examining the future capacity of the port.
