VOLUNTARY ASSISTED DYING
BILL 2019 — EXTENDED SITTINGS
1509. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Leader of the House:
Madam President —
Several members interjected.
The PRESIDENT: Order!
Member, we will just wait until other people have finished their conversation
across the chamber.
Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE: Out of concern
for my friend the Minister for Environment and his advisers at the table, and
the likelihood of the chamber sitting extended hours next Wednesday and Friday
evenings, how does the Leader of the House intend to structure short recesses
of the chamber, and will we take a similar approach to the Legislative
Assembly?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I cannot remember what the
Legislative Assembly did. The Minister for Environment and I have had a discussion
about this. He will ask the Chair to leave the chair until the ringing of the
bells from time to time if he thinks that he needs a break. I will be in
constant communication with him about the kind of mood–tone–vibe
of the chamber.
Hon Martin Aldridge: So it
will not be every two hours?
Hon SUE ELLERY: No. We are
not going to schedule it. That might end up happening, honourable member, but
we are not going to schedule it. We are going to see how we go.
