Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 948 asked in the Legislative Council on 11 October 2018 by Hon Dr Steve Thomas

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

TINY HOUSES PROJECT — BUNBURY

948. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Minister for Regional Development:

I refer to the proposed development of the Tiny Houses project planned for Plaza Street in Bunbury, which involves the construction of three small dwellings to be used for social housing.

(1) What is the maximum number of small dwellings that can constructed on this site?

(2) How many small dwellings does the government plan to construct on this site initially and in the longer term?

(3) Is there any capacity to build small dwellings on other locations in the same area?

(4) Does the government have any plans to build additional small dwellings in Bunbury beyond the three in the current proposal; and, if so, how many and where?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question.

(1) The maximum is three.

(2) The proponent for the Tiny Houses pilot project is AccordWest, a not-for-profit community housing provider, which intends to construct three dwellings on this site. There are no plans for any further dwellings on this site.

(3) There is capacity to explore other locations around Bunbury.

(4) The government does not have any plans at this stage for additional small dwellings in Bunbury.
