COMMUNITIES — POLICE RAID
173. Ms M.J. DAVIES to the Minister for Child Protection:
I have a supplementary question.
Thank you, minister. I did not hear an answer to the second question, which
was: Why has this employee been stood down without pay, given that in the
minister's own words the police have elected not to press charges
because it was not in the public interest and there was no criminal case to be
answered? Why has she been stood down without any pay?
Several members interjected.
The DEPUTY SPEAKER: There was
only one question in there. The end was an explanation of the question.
Ms S.F.
McGURK replied:
I actually addressed that question
in my answer. I said that the remuneration of staff during any disciplinary
investigation is managed under the Public Sector Management Act. As I understand
it, the department is acting entirely in accordance with its requirements under
the Public Sector Management Act.
