Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 778 asked in the Legislative Assembly on 17 November 2021 by Mr P.J. Rundle

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

CORONAVIRUS — MANDATORY VACCINATIONS — TEACHERS

778. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Premier:

I have a supplementary question. Once again, can the Premier guarantee that every classroom will have a teacher in front of it for the start of term 1 in 2022?

Mr M. McGOWAN replied:

I just say to you, member for Roe, let us imagine the workforce is not vaccinated and COVID comes in. Look at what is happening in Europe today—thousands upon thousands of cases and hundreds of people dying every day. That is what is occurring there. There are no easy choices here. You can come up with these glib lines, based upon your irresponsible approach to this issue, but the reality is that we need to get people vaccinated. We see the mass deaths occurring in Europe today. We need to get people vaccinated to high levels. The education workforce is crucial. So, rather than come in here and constantly try to score your cheap political points, how about you go out there and join us in encouraging people to get vaccinated.
