CORONAVIRUS
— HEALTH MODELLING — OMICRON VARIANT
8. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Minister, is it not true that you and the government have abandoned science and
modelling in favour of political polling, much like you did when you made your
decision on ending native logging in Western Australia?
Ms A.
SANDERSON replied:
Madam
Speaker, that supplementary barely warrants a response, quite frankly, and to
relate the two issues is bizarre. Government members have consistently made
decisions based on the evidence in front of us. That is what we have done. We
have not been hysterical. We have not flip-flopped. We have not changed course
when people have yelled at us from the sidelines to do so or when we have been
threatened by people to do so, or when we have not been supported in any way by
the opposition in this state in guiding us and the community through this
course. We have charted a course based on science and evidence and information
that we have in front of us—not fear, not whipping it up, not appealing
to the lowest common denominator, which is what we have seen consistently from
the opposition.
