Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 671 asked in the Legislative Assembly on 27 October 2022 by Mr P.J. Rundle

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

TAB — SALE

671. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Premier:

I refer to the proposed sale of the Western Australian TAB.

(1) Can the Premier confirm that the TAB will now not be sold before the end of 2022?

(2) What is the Premier's government doing to ensure that regional race clubs are funded and supported during this period of incredible uncertainty for many communities across the state?

Mr M. McGOWAN replied:

(1)–(2) No decision has been made. These are still matters that are commercial-in-confidence. The matter is ongoing. I cannot really add much other than that. During our time in office, we have provided enormous support to regional racing with a range of grants, particularly for regional racing infrastructure, but I cannot comment further on an ongoing commercial matter. As I said prior to our election to office, were we to do anything with the TAB, it would be with the support of the industry. That remains our position.
