GEOTHERMAL ROYALTIES
648. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I have a supplementary question. Can
the minister confirm that he is going to charge geothermal projects a royalty
on headwork energy value of up to 10 per cent for some companies; and is it the
minister's intention to charge a royalty on other renewable energy
sources as well?
The SPEAKER: Leader of the
Liberal Party, you may not have been happy with the answer to the main
question, but that does not give you the entitlement to ask two supplementary
questions.
Dr D.J. HONEY: It was a direct
supplementary, Madam Speaker.
The SPEAKER: No, it was two
questions. I will direct the minister to answer the first question that was
asked as a supplementary.

We have no intention of changing the
existing arrangements for geothermal royalties that were left to us by the
former government.
