CORONAVIRUS — CARE CENTRE MODEL
698. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Health:
I refer to the South Australian
government's proactive announcement today that it will establish
COVID-19 care centres to treat those with milder symptoms to ease pressure on
its hospitals when its border is reopened. Is a COVID care centre being
considered or planned for Western Australia; and, if yes, when will it be
opened; and, if not, why not?
Mr R.H. COOK replied:
We are doing a lot of planning in
relation to how we live with COVID-19 when it comes to Western Australia. As I said yesterday, one of the great things that we
have is time to prepare these things. We have done such a good job as a community
of keeping COVID out of our state to date. As the vaccination rates go up, we
will be in a position to understand what any outbreak in our community looks
like.
