Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 148 asked in the Legislative Assembly on 17 March 2022 by Dr D.J. Honey

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

WESTERN POWER — OUTAGES — REVIEW

148. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Energy:

On 31 January 2022, the minister announced the Shepherd review into the appalling power outages that occurred across the south west interconnected system over the Christmas–New Year period, ruining celebrations for over 34 000 Western Australians.

(1) Has the minister received the report and its findings and recommendations, since he promised it would be delivered by Monday, 14 March 2022?

(2) If no to (1), why not?

(3) If the minister has received the report, why has he not released it to the public, and when will the minister act on its recommendations?

Mr W.J. JOHNSTON replied:

(1)–(3) I met by Zoom with Michelle Shepherd on Monday, and she informed me that the report needed a small amount of additional work and that she expects to give it to me sometime this week. I have not yet received it. As I indicated when I made my statement to Parliament in February, once the report is with me, I will table it in the Parliament.
