WASTE-TO-ENERGY
PLANT — KWINANA
39. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for State Development,
Jobs and Trade:
I have a supplementary question. When will this project
finally be delivered, noting that it was expected to be operational by the end
of 2021?
Mr R.H. COOK replied:
I suggest that the member asks the proponent, the
construction company and everyone involved in that project. It is not a government
project. We wish them all every success. The Phoenix Energy project, as it was
originally titled, is a project that I am very familiar with. It is pursuing a long-term
project. It will be the first waste-to-energy plant
to be developed in Australia. I wish everyone all the very best in what is
obviously a very complex and difficult project. They have all the
government support they need to get it moving forward, but I remind the member
that it is a private sector development and construction project. It has nowt
in that context to do with us.
