Please provide the following details for the years 2011-2021, or if only available from

(a) the
number of applications for housing that have been refused because of an adverse
history with the Housing Authority; and
(b) he

Answered on 29 November 2022
(a – b)
The Department’s reporting system does not capture data in the format requested to accurately reflect the number of client applications declined due to adverse housing history.
The Department of Communities may consider the refusal of housing assistance where a client has acted in a violent or threatening manner towards department staff, and former public housing tenants with adverse housing history, such as those previously charged or convicted of an offence relating to a public housing property.
There are options available to clients in instances where an application for further public housing assistance is declined. Decisions relating to the refusal of housing assistance are appealable under the Department of Communities Housing Appeals Policy. The Department of Communities also supports clients with referrals to a range of alternative accommodation options and services depending on their circumstances.
