Minister for Finance:
I refer to common-use arrangement
CUAITS2017.
(1) Will the
minister consult with Translators and Interpreters Australia regarding its
concerns about the sustainability of the common-use arrangement use of labour
hire firms?
(2) Will the
minister consult with the Office of Multicultural Interests regarding the
relationship between this CUA and the WA language services policy?
(3) Will the
minister consult with the Ethnic Communities Council of WA regarding the level
and quality of language services in Western Australia?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. Noting that this question was asked on Thursday,
15 October, the answer is current of that date.
(1) The Department of Finance met with Translators and Interpreters Australia
to discuss its concerns with CUAITS2017. Finance will continue to
consult with it on the performance and sustainability of the common-use
arrangement, including the use of labour hire
firms.
(2) Finance has a close working
relationship with the Office of Multicultural Interests
and will continue to consult regarding the CUA and the application of
the WA language services policy.
(3) Finance will consult with the Ethnic
Communities Council of WA and any other relevant interested parties.
