ELECTRICITY PRICES
1232. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Energy:
We will test our luck. For each of
the financial years of 2017–18, 2018–19 and 2019–20, I ask
the following.
(1) By what
percentage did the McGowan government raise electricity prices for consumers
and businesses?
(2) What was the
increase in the average household and business electricity bill in dollar
terms?
(3) What amount
was written down in the asset value of Synergy's electricity generating
stations?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON
replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Energy.
(1) I refer the
honourable member to table 8.6 of state budget paper No 3. I do not have a copy
of that, but if the member needs me to access it for him, I will access it at a
later stage.
(2) For the
household average bill, I refer the honourable member to table 8.6 of state
budget paper No 3.
Due
to the variance in size of Synergy's business customers and the
commercially sensitive nature of some contestable business contracts, the
average bill for a Synergy business customer is not able to be provided.
(3) Synergy
recorded the following information on generation asset impairments: 2017–18,
nil; 2018–19, $349.4 million; and 2019–20, nil.
