Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 911 asked in the Legislative Council on 15 September 2020 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

ROAD TRAUMA TRUST ACCOUNT

911. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the Treasurer:

I refer to Legislative Council question without notice 775 regarding traffic-related infringements and offences revenue.

(1) In 2019–20 how much revenue was received by the consolidated fund?

(2) How much is forecast to be received by the consolidated fund in 2020–21?

(3) Has the government considered increasing revenue flows from traffic-related offences to the road trauma trust account in the name of improving road safety outcomes on WA roads?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) The amount of revenue received by the consolidated account is currently being audited in preparation of the release of the 2019–20 Annual Report on State Finances next month.

(2) Based on 2019–20 midyear review projections, an amount of $33.8 million is expected to be paid into the consolidated account in 2020–21.

(3) One hundred per cent of the revenue from red-light and speed camera infringements is already paid to the road trauma trust account.
