PRISONS — STAFFING LEVELS
833. Hon PETER COLLIER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
(1) Will the
minister confirm that all Western Australian prisons have a service level
agreement to determine staffing levels; and, if not, why not?
(2) If yes to
(1), are the minimum standards of all SLAs being met in all WA prisons; and, if
no, in which prison or prisons and why not?
Hon
MATTHEW SWINBOURN replied:
I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following information has been provided to me by the
Minister for Corrective Services.
(1) All Western Australian public
prisons currently have a staffing level agreement.
(2) Staffing level agreements do not set a minimum
staffing standard, but rather a staffing profile commensurate with the
provision of all services within that prison in circumstances in which the
prison is at maximum prisoner capacity.
