Hon SUE ELLERY: There is an asterisked note down the bottom of the page. In December 2017, the state government removed the payroll tax exemption for existing worker trainees due to rorting of the exemption to minimise tax obligations by some businesses. This resulted in existing worker traineeships declining by around 80 per cent over the next two years. New entrant traineeships remained steady over the same time frame.
