CORONAVIRUS — PERTH ROYAL SHOW
797. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the Premier's
announcement today that the Perth Royal Show will not proceed based upon advice
received from the Chief Health Officer.
(1) Can the Premier please table
the advice received from the Chief Health Officer?
(2) On what date was the advice
requested and received from the Chief Health Officer?
(3) What
implications does this decision have for other agricultural shows and similar
events in coming weeks and months?
(4) Will the
state government now meet with the Royal Agricultural Society of WA and
formally consider its proposal for state government assistance for agricultural
shows and events statewide?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) I table the attached
document.
[See paper 4121.]
(2) The advice was received on 17
August 2020.
(3) This advice did not address
other agricultural shows and was specific to the Perth Royal Show.
(4) The state
government will continue to meet with and work proactively with the Royal
Agricultural Society of WA on a number of issues.
