INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
1240. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the media statement ''WA's
strong economy to leave lasting legacy'' and the establishment of
initial commitments totalling $750 million.
(1) What is the complete list of
already identified projects and their associated project cost?
(2) How was the initial pipeline of projects already
identified created and how will future projects be identified?
(3) Will these
projects be required to undergo analysis by Infrastructure WA or Infrastructure
Australia?
(4) Will funds be held in a special purpose account;
and, if so, how will approval of project drawdowns occur?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
initial pipeline of projects includes iconic state infrastructure projects and
community and social initiatives that the government is already committed to.
Significant state projects identified so far include the Aboriginal cultural centre, the Perth Concert Hall redevelopment,
the Perth Zoo master plan, the remote Aboriginal communities fund, and
additional contributions to Telethon. The associated project costs are still
being defined. The inclusion of future projects will be overseen by an advisory
committee with both government and industry representation, with a special
emphasis on the regions.
(3) All projects will adhere to
normal governance standards.
(4) Project drawdowns will occur
against project milestones.
