CORONAVIRUS —
REGIONAL LAND BOOSTER PACKAGE
742. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to the press release this
morning titled ''$116 million Regional Land Booster Package delivers
record sales''.
(1) Given the
renewed interest in landownership in Karratha, will the minister reconsider
adopting the second recommendation of the Australian Competition and Consumer
Commission's northern insurance report, which recommends rebasing
insurance stamp duty that could aid with COVID-19 recovery?
(2) Does DevelopmentWA alert potential landowners to
the extreme costs of home insurance in the Mining and Pastoral Region?
(3) Is
the minister aware of reports of instances of builders' quotes rising
by up to $100 000, leaving landowners who purchased lots just before the
announcement unable to afford to build houses on their unsubsidised lots?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of the
Treasurer; Minister for Lands.
(1)–(3) No.
