PLANNING COMMISSION — SHIRE OF BOYUP BROOK
828. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to the proposed local
planning strategy of Shire of Boyup Brook submitted to the Western Australian
Planning Commission in May 2022.
(1) What is the status of this local
planning strategy?
(2) What consultation has been
conducted by the WAPC on this strategy?
(3) Specifically,
what consultation was conducted with the plantation timber sector on this
strategy?
(4) What
allowance has the WAPC made for the negative economic and population impacts
expected to result from extensive plantation plantings when considering the
strategy?
(5) Has the government's new forestry and
softwood plantation plan prevented the approval of this local strategy?
Hon STEPHEN
DAWSON replied:
On behalf of the Leader of the House,
I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question. The
following answer is provided on behalf the Minister for Planning.
(1)–(5) The
Shire of Boyup Brook's draft local planning strategy is being assessed
for approval for public advertising. The Western Australian Planning Commission
has not conducted consultation on the draft strategy as that is the
responsibility of local government.
