MAIN ROADS — DECLARED PESTS
1241. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
response to question without notice 1194 asked on 22 November 2022.
(1) I understand that Main Roads Western Australia was
directly advised at a regional level of rabbits breeding in road reserves under its control in the
Esperance district in 2020 and 2021 and has done nothing to address the
issue. On that basis, does the minister stand by her response with respect to
questions (1), (3) and (4)?
(2) Does MRWA
have any arrangements or agreements in place with the Shire of Esperance, the
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions or any other parties
specifically to control declared pests in the Esperance district?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Main
Roads does not have any record of being contacted in recent years regarding
rabbit breeding within its road reserves near Esperance. Main Roads will
initiate discussions with the Shire of Esperance and DBCA on this matter.
