Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 767 asked in the Legislative Council on 13 August 2020 by Hon Nick Goiran

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE — ONE-STOP HUBS

767. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence:

I refer to the government's commitment to establish two one-stop hubs.

(1) Are both one-stop hubs still scheduled to commence service in this term of government?

(2) If yes to (1), what is the scheduled date of service commencement for each one-stop hub?

(3) Is the minister aware of the Victorian Auditor-General's report ''Managing Support and Safety Hubs'' and its nine recommendations?

(4) If yes to (3), what steps are being taken to ensure that the two one-stop hubs being built in Western Australia will not experience the same issues?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) Yes.

(2) Services are currently scheduled to commence no later than December 2020.

(3) Yes.

(4) The Department of Communities has applied the learnings of the ''Orange Door 2018 Evaluation'' commissioned by Family Safety Victoria—the Victorian government—which are consistent with the Victorian Auditor-General's report in relation to the design, implementation, monitoring and governance of the hub model. The department is ensuring that relevant findings from any such reports are taken into consideration in the delivery of the one-stop hubs.
