Question Directed to the: Leader of the House representing the Minister for Health
Parliament: 41 Session: 1
Question
I refer to the media statement issued on 31 October 2022 titled 'new clinic opens for patients with long COVID-19 symptoms', and I ask:
(a) given this service is only available to those living in the East Metropolitan Health Service catchment area, what services are available to Western Australian residents experiencing long COVID-19 symptoms outside of this area, including regional residents;
(b) why was Bentley Health Service selected as the site for this trial;
(c) what is the cost of the trial; and
(d) what is the prevalence of long COVID-19 in Western Australia?
Answered on 14 February 2023
(a) Patients outside East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) catchment requiring secondary care will be referred via existing pathways to the relevant sub-specialty or rehabilitation service.
(b) The Bentley campus of Royal Perth Bentley Group within EMHS has a strong focus on delivery of sub-acute (including rehabilitation) services, in partnership with Royal Perth Hospital.
(c) $113, 551
(d) The prevalence of long COVID-19, or Post COVID-19 condition, in Western Australia (WA) is unconfirmed. A survey with a large population sample is underway that is expected to determine the prevalence in WA.
