Question Without Notice No. 45 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 May 2021 by Hon Tjorn Sibma

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

WASTE LEVY

45. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the Minister for Environment:

I refer to accusations of systemic waste levy avoidance in Western Australia.

(1) Please advise the number of occasions over the previous four years that the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation either received complaints or were alerted to well-founded suspicions about the practice of systemic waste levy avoidance?

(2) On which specific dates were these complaints or suspicions brought to DWER's attention?

(3) With respect to (2), what follow-up actions occurred, if any?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question, albeit a cheeky one, I think, honourable member, given the level of detail that might be required.

The answer from the Minister for Environment is that due to the level of information required, it is not possible to provide an answer in the time frame available, and I request that the honourable member place this question on notice.
