Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 1284 asked in the Legislative Council on 11 November 2020 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FOSTER CARE — SCHOOL PHOTOS

1284. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection:

I refer to the Department of Communities' child protection division purchasing school photos for foster children.

(1) How much was spent on the purchase of school photos for foster children in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 to date?

(2) Will the minister confirm that the department has stopped paying for school photos for foster children; and, if so, why?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(2) School photos are an important part of a child's life story. There has been no change to the Department of Communities' policy regarding this matter and Communities has not ceased covering the costs. This information is not recorded separately from other case support costs for children in care, so it cannot be identified.
