LIQUOR
CONTROL — KIMBERLEY — AUSTRALIA POST DELIVERY
1220. Hon KEN BASTON to the minister representing the
Minister for Racing and Gaming:
I refer to the Liquor Control
(Section 31) (Kimberley) Notice 2020, which came into effect on 15 May 2020.
(1) Are residents
of the Kimberley legally able to purchase packaged alcohol in excess of the
restrictions prescribed in the section 31 notice from metropolitan retailers
and have it delivered to locations in the Kimberley via Australia Post?
(2) Are Australia Post staff who handle alcohol
orders required to have responsible service of alcohol qualifications?
(3) Is it possible to provide an estimate of what
value and/or quantity of packaged alcohol was sold by metropolitan
retailers via mail order into the Kimberley since 15 May 2020?
(4) If no to (3),
why not?
Hon
ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the
question. The following information has been provided by the Minister for
Racing and Gaming.
The legislation and regulation
governing alcohol restrictions remains unchanged from those in operation under
the Barnett government.
(1) Yes. The
limits applicable under the Liquor Control (Section 31) (Kimberley) Notice 2020
apply only to liquor licensees located in the Kimberley.
(2)–(3) No.
(4) There is no
legislative requirement for metropolitan licensees to provide sales data on
customer purchases.
