Question Directed to the: Leader of the House representing the Minister for Health
Parliament: 41 Session: 1

Question

I refer to the reduction in operation hours at Wyndham Hospital since October 2021 and the closure of maternity services in Carnarvon since February this year, and I ask:
(a) please identify any Western Australian Country Health Service (WACHS) facilities where services have been reduced or cancelled since January 2021; and
(b) for any facilities identified in (a), please provide:
(i) the reason for service reduction or cancellation;
(ii) the length of time the service was reduced; and
(iii) whether services have returned to normal operation?

Answered on 22 November 2022

(a) Since January 2021, services have been temporarily reduced to varying degrees and lengths of time at Carnarvon, Narrogin, Bridgetown and Warren, and Wyndham.

The Midwifery Group Practice continues to offer antenatal and postnatal care to women and their families in Carnarvon. All women and their escorts/family who need to be relocated to their preferred/referred birth site (Geraldton, Karratha or Perth) are fully supported and funded. In addition, the Midwifery Group Practice continues to offer antenatal and postnatal care to women and their families in and around Narrogin, Bridgetown and Warren.
