I refer to the piggery known as Peel Pork on Alexander Road Yarloop, and I ask, will the Minister please provide copies of the Environmental Protection Authority
approvals and other information related to the expansion of this
facility over the last ten years?

Based on the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s records, the Peel Pork Piggery has not been the subject of any proposals referred to the Environmental Protection Authority.
Licence L4958/1992/12 (Peel Pork Piggery) was granted to Aljota Pty Ltd (Aljota) on 10 October 2013 under Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act). The licence allowed for capacity of 4,000 animals, equivalent to 3,840 standard pig units (SPU).
An amendment notice was issued on 29 April 2016 [see Tabled Paper No. ], extending the licence expiry date until 12 October 2028. The current licence is provided [see Tabled Paper No. ].
On 23 January 2020, the Department granted works approval W6161/2018/1 to Aljota authorising the construction of six additional deep litter sheds, one conventional flushing shed, a new wastewater evaporation pond and the installation of four new groundwater monitoring bores. The proposed works will increase the design capacity of the piggery from 3,840 SPU to 5,742 SPU.
