Question
I
refer to the Meth Action Plan (MAP) and the allocation of $244.8 million for
the implementation of the MAP initiatives, and I ask:
(a) how much of the $244.8 million was allocated
to the Minister's portfolio agencies;
(b) how much of the allocation has been spent to date;
(c) what initiatives have been identified; and
(d) what initiatives have been implemented to date?

Department of Education
(a) The Department of Education (the Department) will receive $1 059 632 (excluding GST) under the Methamphetamine Action Plan (MAP), allocated across four financial years commencing in 2019-20, to support the continuation of the School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA) program.
(b) Total expenditure to 13 October 2020 is $115 143.
(c) The initiatives identified are:
· The provision of school drug education programs specifically targeting at-risk groups of non-mainstream students, student support staff and parents.
· The Department giving greater prominence to alcohol and other drug education in schools by including statements in future strategic documents and directions to schools.
(d) Initiatives implemented as of September 2020 include:
· Delivery of Drug Talk, a targeted methamphetamine education and other drugs program for Year 10 to 12 students.
· Delivery of parent education seminars across Western Australia, including regional areas.
· Delivery of an early intervention program that includes professional learning and resources to inform student services and pastoral care staff (including psychologists, chaplains and nurses) about how to appropriately engage and work with students potentially impacted by methamphetamines and other drugs.
· Inclusion of alcohol and other drug education in schools in strategic documents, such as Focus 2019 and Focus 2020.
· Engagement with students in a broad range of educational settings through the provision of resources to suit their learning needs. In addition to mainstream schools, this includes providing suitable, evidence-based professional learning and resources to staff in Engagement Schools and Centres, Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education (CARE) schools, and regional and remote schools to enable education and early intervention for students.
